Brindys Software can not guarantee that GEDEX will be installable or usable on those operating systems, nor, on operating systems for which GEDEX was not designed.
As stated by Brindys Software, older versions of GEDEX who have completed their life cycle will not have assistance or the ability to be activated again, from when exists the possibility of downloading a more modern update on the web site. The user can download the free updates published for his version, variant and GEDEX particular edition, through a special website for customers. This download updates service is free for the client, and is subject to the availability of such updates.
The GEDEX Usage Licenses authorize the use in a particular operating system, with real hardware, expressly excluding virtual machines or virtualized or emulated hardware. Microsoft Virtual Server, virtualized computers and virtual machines (such as Virtual PC, VirtualBox, VMWare Workstation and others) are not supported.
GEDEX can use different operating systems on each of the computers on your local network. Requires a personal computer (IBM PC compatible) with one of the following 32 or 64 bits operating systems: Windows 10, Windows 8.1, Windows 8, Windows 7, Windows 7 Service Pack 1, Vista Service Pack 2, 2008 R2, XP Service Pack 2, XP Service Pack 3, 2003, including versions Home, Professional, Ultimate, Workstation, Server and Advanced Server. Requires an Intel or AMD processor, no RT editions of Windows (for example Windows 8 RT) because they use other processors like ARM. No longer supported: Windows Vista (Service Pack 1 and below), Windows XP (Service Pack 1 and below), 95, 98, 98 Second Edition, Me, 2000, NT 4.0 and earlier. The change of operating system or reinstallation of an operating system or usage of the new Windows functions "Reset your PC" and "Refresh your PC" is expressly considered Moving Usage License to a new computer.
If your GEDEX Usage License is determined by computers, will be on those computers where you can make use of the software. For example, a GEDEX Usage License of type Standalone, Server or Network Station only authorizes for use on a computer, not multiple computers or sequences of computers.
If your GEDEX Usage License is determined by natural or legal person (eg a Corporate GEDEX Usage License) will be that natural or legal person who may use the software on a finite set of computers.
GEDEX Usage Licenses are assigned to computers, not by number of total users or number of simultaneous users. Each computer where GEDEX is installed requires a GEDEX Usage License.
The activation of one computer, links definitelly one usage license with one specific computer. In the future, to use the usage license with other computer you will need to move the license to the new computer ("Moving Usage Licenses") or buy an additional usage license.
Important: Activation of GEDEX Usage Licenses. This product uses technological measures for copy protection and to reduce software piracy. GEDEX requests after several days of running the software activation to prevent software to be used on computers that do not have GEDEX Usage Licenses. No license shall be granted for the execution of GEDEX or for the use of this product, if you do not follow all procedures for activation of each computer. These procedures are detailed in the product documentation and on the web address http://www.brindys.com/docs/iuk10001085.html
GEDEX Usage Licenses can be activated and moved (transferred) to new computers only during the months of technical support or by expanding technical support. The first usage licenses of type Standalone and Server include 6 months of technical support, the rest (including net stations and second licenses for home) 3 months.
Deadline to activate the software: If you keep your e-mail or fax activation passwords, you can reuse them after reinstalling the software GEDEX. You can request activation passwords for your computer from the date of purchase of usage licenses for up to 3 or 6 months, or by expanding technical support. This does not mean GEDEX stops working after that time, just that new passwords for additional activations may not be requested. If you purchased a technical support extension, the period of time increases for twelve months from the date of hire for a limited number of additional activations.
How many times can the software be activated: If you keep the e-mail with the activation password, you can re-use it after reinstalling the software GEDEX. In the case of losing the e-mail or if the activation password do not run, you can request activation passwords for your computer up to two additional times to the first activation (3 in total) during the months of technical support or expanding technical support.
If you have multiple computers and the activation password does not work, consider maybe the computer using it on is the wrong one, because activation passwords are different on each computer. In that case, look for the password for the computer that you are activating.
When is it necessary to activate the software: When first installed on a computer, if reinstalling GEDEX on the same computer or if installing it on a new one, after formatting the hard drive, after installing/reinstalling the operating system, after using the new Windows functions "Refresh your PC" or "Reset your PC", after changing computer or main components (CPU, drive and network hardware). If you do not make any such changes to your computer, you do not need to re-activate the software. Otherwise, the activation password changes, and it is required to activate again the software, requesting a new e-mail with a new activation password.
In local area networks, where is GEDEX software to be activated: The network server and each network station where GEDEX is installed must be activated. Activate first the server computer, and then the other client computers (network stations). The e-mail activation is different for each computer, so we need one for each of them.
Moving an usage license (that is, activate a new computer and deactivate the old one) is an easy process, simmiliar to activation in first place. To move an usage license you are required to be within the period of technical support for configuration, activation and moving. Usage licenses can be moved only during that period, usually 3 or 6 months since the last order. You can order support period extensions, to extend the period of technical support for configuration, activation and moving. The extension entitles you to perform aditional activations, for up to a limited number of additional activations, for up to 12 months.
How to move activation to a new computer: The activations are not transferred, only GEDEX Usage Licenses.
If you want to move GEDEX from one computer to another, see the step by step instructions about moving your GEDEX Usage Licenses in the web address http://www.brindys.com/docs/iuk10001107.html
To activate GEDEX on each computer, GEDEX will ask for your Brindys Customer Code. This code is known only by the owner who made the purchase of GEDEX Usage Licenses. For more information about this code please visit the web address http://www.brindys.com/docs/iuk10001075.html
Keep your Brindys Customer Code confidentially, as it is a password, and otherwise could be used illegally to activate GEDEX on computers outside your office. In that case, all GEDEX Usage Licenses may be invalidated for violating the conditions of purchase and for violating copyright.
How to use GEDEX before activating: To use GEDEX even before it has been activated, follow these instructions. While waiting for the arrival of your activation password, use the product as if it were the evaluation version, limiting the total number of contact records and files. Once you exceed the limit of the trial version you will not be able to query or modify some records, cases or contacts. If you are installing GEDEX on a network, make use of the server computer solely, as the records produced in other computers will no longer be available once connected to the network.
In local networks, you only need Usage Licenses for computers where you install GEDEX, not for the entire network.
In local networks, the Server computer (using a Server type Usage License) can be used to work like the rest GEDEX computers with network station type licenses, ie you can create and view information from the server computer.
