What is WinRSS
WinRSS is a complete and easy system for the reception of syndicated news available in the net. News displayed by WinRSS are frequently called syndicated news, and they come from newspapers, magazines, web portals, weblogs and many more media. WinRSS supports news in the most popular formats available: Atom, RSS, RDF and XML.
It's based on RSS and RDF/RSS, an XML specification used for distributing news, product announcements, discussion threads, and other assorted content as channels. WinRSS also supports GeoURL data, allowing to discover the physical location of a channel. We are currently working on FOAF support for WinRSS, which will show personal information about any channel's author.
News feeds are available on many internet servers, even in your own language.
Installation
For Windows Vista, 2008 or 7 users, please check additional instructions.

Versión gratuita Junio de 2009. Precargado con canales en español.
Benefits
WinRSS uses balloon tooltips to display the news. WinRSS works differently to most feed readers, most of which display information in an email reader style interface. Instead, WinRSS sits quietly in your system tray, periodically checking your favourite sites for updates. When a site is updated, WinRSS displays a summary as a Windows balloon tooltip, which you can click on to open the site.

Clicking the balloon, the associated website will be opened, usually with a complete description.
If you know other programs from Brindys Software, you will be glad to know that WinRSS incorporates the news at the notifications agenda (bulb icon) for an easy access to them.
Used regularly, avoids procastination, as news items will not be visible while you have full screen windows open.
International support
WinRSS currently supports UTF-8 (which provides support for any language), Windows-1251 (cyrilic), Windows-1256 (russian) and 8859-1 encodings. Speaking news support currently works in English, French, Italian, Spanish, Catalan, Galician, Basque, Czech, Polish, and soon also in Russian. The HTML interface works currently in English, Spanish and Catalonian. We are adding more languages to the interface as they become available.
